Gareth Paul Gates, British singer, born 12th July 1984, Bradford. Runner up in the ITV 'Pop Idol' competition in 2002. His first record, a version of 'Unchained Melody', went straight to number 1 in the UK charts, making him the youngest ever male solo artist to go to number 1. It then spent 9 weeks at No 1.
