David Nathaniel Baker, Jr. (1931-) had composed in a wide range of genres and styles, including works for jazz, orchestra, solo voice, chorus, piano, and chamber ensemble. He served as Jazz Studies Department chairman at Indiana University and authored many books and articles, often on themes of African-American music.
