Christened Marie-Juliette Olga, French composer Lili Boulanger (1893-1918) died early of Crohn's Disease. Elder sister Nadia convinced her to undertake compositional studies and she won the 1913 Prix de Rome, with her cantata Faust et Hélène. She composed a wide variety and considerable number of pieces in her short life.
