Cavalli, Pier Francesco

Italian Baroque composer Pier Francesco Cavalli (1602-1676) was a protege of Monteverdi. He is most known for his operas, including Xerse in 1654. Orignally named Pier Francesco Caletti-Bruni, he changed to honor an early patron.
