German-born Cuban-American composer Joaquín María Nin-Culmell (1908-) is the son of noted 19th Century pianist Joaquín Nin y Castellanos and brother to author Anaïs Nin. He held many important faculty positions in the United States but always retained a focus on Spanish-influenced music. This shows especially in his Tonadas, a series of piano pieces.
